Agitator Vito Quiles appeared before Judge Rosa María Freire on Friday, leading to the lifting of the detention order and a new citation for July 20 on charges of an alleged crime against honor.
Quiles appeared with his lawyer Juan Gonzalo Ospina at the Juzgado de Instrucción Número 32 de Madrid around midday. The magistrate issued a resolution lifting the search and capture order that had been issued after his non-appearances on June 9 and 25.
The defense had filed a document stating that Quiles had only learned of the case through the media. Legal sources indicated that the voluntary appearance automatically caused the order to lapse.
The judge has cited him for 12:45 on July 20 and warned that another unjustified non-appearance could lead to his detention. The procedure investigates publications on Telegram and TikTok about a public employee.
