West Bengal Police froze 12 more Trinamool Congress bank accounts holding over ₹1,000 crore on Friday following complaints of illegal fund diversion.

The police suspended the accounts after a notice from the Bidhannagar Cybercrime Unit to several national and private banks. Earlier the police and the Enforcement Directorate had frozen three party accounts holding ₹440 crore.

Trinamool Congress had challenged the police order in the Calcutta High Court which allowed the party to withdraw money under judicial supervision. Party chief Mamata Banerjee moved the court on Friday challenging the ED action.

The court is scheduled to hear the matter on Monday July 13 2026. The ED had also conducted searches at five locations in the city on July 7 and lodged a fresh FIR under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
