The woman under observation at Barcelona's Hospital Clínic after contact with a hantavirus case has tested negative in her second PCR. Sources from the Generalitat's Health Department report she remains asymptomatic and in good general health.
The woman entered the Clínic on May 9 to complete quarantine after sharing an international flight with a Dutch woman who died from the virus. Official sources confirm she will remain in confinement and under observation per established protocols.
In Madrid, the only confirmed Spanish patient, a 70-year-old man, remains stable and improving in the High Level Isolation and Treatment Unit at Gómez Ulla hospital since last Monday. His 13 companions from the ship Hondius, isolated in the same facility, continue without symptoms.
The two women from Barcelona and Alicante who shared the Johannesburg to Netherlands flight also remain asymptomatic. The 13 passengers in Madrid will undergo a new PCR test next Monday.
