Linux Mint releases LMDE 7 Gigi based on Debian 13

The Linux Mint project has released LMDE 7, codenamed Gigi, as its latest Debian-based edition. This long-term support version builds directly on Debian 13 Trixie to ensure independence from Ubuntu. It includes updated software and refinements for a more comfortable desktop experience.
KDE Plasma 6.7 has arrived with restored themes from the KDE 4 era and support for separate virtual desktops on each screen. The update also introduces a new theming system called Union as a tech preview.

A group of developers has created SonicDE, a new desktop environment that restores and extends X11 capabilities from KDE Plasma. The project emerged after KDE announced plans to remove the X11 session from Plasma 6.8.
