In the latest episode of The Boys season 5, Homelander killed Firecracker by impaling her head on a golden eagle statue. Series creator Eric Kripke told TVLine that her death was planned from early on as a cautionary tale. Kripke described Firecracker as an allegory for certain political figures.

The plot point surfaced shortly after President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated image of himself as Jesus on social media. Kripke called the timing a coincidence.
