An extratropical cyclone struck Santa Catarina and Paraná intensely on Friday (7), felling trees and unroofing houses, and is now beginning to affect western São Paulo. The São Paulo Civil Defense issued a severe cellphone alert for heavy rains and strong wind gusts. Authorities forecast severe conditions through Saturday (8).
