Analyst Nate Tice has placed Pittsburgh Steelers tight end Pat Freiermuth on an NFL all-average squad. The selection highlights questions about Freiermuth after a reduced role in 2025.
Tice made the comments recently on his Football 301 podcast. He described Freiermuth as the Steelers' TE2 behind Darnell Washington, who recently received a new contract.
Freiermuth recorded 41 receptions for 486 yards and four touchdowns in 2025. Most of the production came in a single game against the Cincinnati Bengals. He had posted stronger numbers the prior season with 65 catches for 653 yards and seven scores.
The Steelers now feature Aaron Rodgers at quarterback after Jonnu Smith and Arthur Smith departed. Freiermuth and Washington are expected to share tight end duties this season based on their differing skills.
