The Colombian Association of Entrepreneurs (Andi) and the Association of Food Banks of Colombia (Abaco) have launched a support campaign for regions hit by a cold front and heavy rains. This initiative aims to deliver aid to displaced families and victims of the recent downpours. Companies and citizens are invited to donate essential goods at various collection centers.
In response to intense rains caused by a cold front that have affected various areas of Colombia in recent days, Andi, along with its foundation and Abaco, has activated humanitarian aid mechanisms. These downpours have left displaced families and, in some cases, fatalities, according to a statement from the organizations.
The strategy focuses on delivering assistance to the hardest-hit areas, including in-kind donations such as food and beverages, personal hygiene products, kitchen items, sleeping articles, emergency supplies, and biosecurity materials. "The Andi, its Foundation together with Abaco have activated this campaign with the conviction that united we can help and express our solidarity. Everyone can contribute to supporting the families who today face difficulties. We invite more companies and citizens to join this initiative," stated Bruce Mac Master, president of Andi.
Donations are being accepted at collection centers in Montería, Riohacha, Medellín, Santa Marta, Barranquilla, and Urabá. This action highlights the business guilds' commitment to solidarity during climate crises, encouraging collective participation to mitigate the impacts of extreme weather events.
