BOSTON -- Building on his franchise-record 11 strikeouts in his Opening Day start against the White Sox, Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Jacob Misiorowski dominated early Tuesday night at chilly Fenway Park, striking out the first five Boston Red Sox batters and notching 10 strikeouts among his first 16 outs over 5 1/3 innings.
The 24-year-old kept the Red Sox scoreless through five innings, facing the minimum until a single in the fourth and navigating a hit and hit-by-pitch in the fifth. His fastball sat around 98 mph.
But command abandoned him in the sixth. With one out and after a mound visit, Misiorowski walked Jarren Duran, Willson Contreras and Wilyer Abreu on 12 of 13 pitches outside the zone, loading the bases.
DL Hall relieved but surrendered three runs as all runners crossed the plate, giving Boston a 3-1 lead.
