A car drove into Nordic Wellness on Köpmangatan in central Sundsvall late on Monday evening. Two people were taken to hospital and police are investigating the incident.

The alarm came at 22:49 on Monday evening. The car drove straight through the window and about ten metres into the premises before overturning.

Witness Henry Nyman, who lives above the gym, described how the building shook. "We were watching TV and heard a bang like it was a bomb", he said.

Police suspect a medical condition may have caused the crash. "It is a bit unclear what happened", said emergency operator Gunilla Melin. Two people were taken by ambulance to hospital.

Police RLC commander Jonas Nilsson said the investigation is at an early stage. There is major damage to the car and building but no risk of collapse.
