Emmanuel Macron annonce que la France soutient le cessez-le-feu au Liban

Le président français a déclaré jeudi que la France soutenait le cessez-le-feu entre le Liban et Israël annoncé à Washington et se tenait à disposition pour en assurer le suivi.

Emmanuel Macron a fait cette déclaration lors d’une conférence de presse au Monténégro. « Nous soutenons le cessez-le-feu entre le Liban et Israël et tout ce qui permet de restaurer la paix », a-t-il affirmé. La France participe à un mécanisme de coordination avec les États-Unis pour vérifier la mise en œuvre de l’accord.

L’accord prévoit un cessez-le-feu conditionné à l’arrêt complet des tirs du Hezbollah et à la création de zones pilotes contrôlées par l’armée libanaise. Le président libanais Joseph Aoun a qualifié ce texte de « dernière chance pour parvenir à un cessez-le-feu global et définitif ».

Le Hezbollah a rejeté l’accord et exigé un cessez-le-feu global ainsi que le retrait total des forces israéliennes du Liban. Des incidents ont néanmoins été signalés après l’annonce, dont la mort d’un soldat israélien et de huit civils libanais.
