Firefighter warned after slapping female colleague

A male firefighter in Malmö has received a written warning and been relocated after slapping a female colleague on the butt during a training session at the end of February.

Räddningstjänsten Syd has issued the unusual measure following the incident at a fire station in Malmö. The warning describes the act as violating and inappropriate since the colleague was in a vulnerable position. Director Martin Gertsson states that an external law firm is now examining reports of sexist jargon within the organisation. The firefighter has been moved temporarily to another station. The employer has not filed a police report. HR chief Maria Thögersen confirms that such a report has nevertheless been made by another party. Chief safety representative Zarko Iloski awaits the outcome of the investigation.
