Ida-Lova wins song of the year at P3 Gold gala

Ida-Lova's song "Svagare än jag" has been named song of the year at the P3 Gold gala, a prize that came as a total surprise to the 21-year-old artist. The award is the public's choice through votes from P3 listeners. Nominees included big names like Zara Larsson and Hurula.

The P3 Gold gala took place at Cirkus in Stockholm, hosted by Christopher Garplind for the second year in a row. Ida-Lova, daughter of comedian Christine Meltzer, did not expect any chance going into the evening. "When I woke up this morning, I thought I had the least chance of all," she tells TT.

After the win, she expressed her surprise: "All the nominated songs are so incredibly big, and it's music and artists that I listen to myself. I'm very moved, I don't know if I've realized that I won."

The song "Svagare än jag" premiered at Allsång på Skansen last summer and reached number one on Svensktoppen. Ida-Lova previously participated in Melodifestivalen 2023 with "Låt hela stan se på".

Song of the year is a public prize, with other nominees including Tjuvjakt & Fanny Avonne with "Tusen spänn", Zara Larsson with "Midnight sun", and Hurula with "Ett annat språk".

Other winners included Saga Faye as artist of the future, Anna von Hausswolff for album of the year "Iconoclasts", Kite for best live performance with "Kite on ice" at Avicii Arena, and Viagra Boys as artist of the year – despite not being able to attend.

Favorites like Veronica Maggio and Viagra Boys went partly empty-handed, but Maggio presented the award to Saga Faye, who said: "It feels like the circle is complete. Veronica Maggio was one of my very first concerts, when I was fourteen at Gröna Lund." Saga Faye had her breakthrough in 2023 with "Who are you?", which was also nominated for song of the year.

The gala opened with Garplind's jokes about current events in the music world, and he lamented that the event is not broadcast on TV but only on Sveriges Radio.
