Last week, he received a Golden Globe, and now he has won the best male actor award at the European Film Academy's (EFA) annual gala in Berlin. The prize is for his performance in the Norwegian film 'Sentimental Value', directed by Joachim Trier.

Upon receiving the award, Skarsgård expressed his joy: 'I thank from the bottom of my heart.' He continued: 'It feels like coming home. I have friends I've known for decades sitting here tonight and they obviously voted for me for that reason.' In the same category, Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen was nominated.

The film 'Sentimental Value' dominated the gala and was named best film of the year. Director Joachim Trier won best director, and together with Eskil Vogt, they received the best screenplay award. Skarsgård's co-star Renate Reinsve was awarded best female actor, and the film was also praised for its music.

Among other nominated films were the German documentary 'Riefenstahl', the French-Tunisian 'The Voice of Hind Rajab', and the Ukrainian 'Songs of Slow Burning Earth', a Swedish co-production by director Olha Zhurbas.

During the gala, Norwegian actress Liv Ullmann was honored with the European Film Academy's lifetime achievement award, presented by chair Juliette Binoche. The 87-year-old Ullmann said: 'I am so grateful. I am nervous but I'm not shaking from nervousness, it's just age. This is a very special prize for me.'

The event highlights the strong Nordic presence in European cinema, with multiple awards to Norwegian and Swedish productions.
