A powerful thunderstorm swept across Sweden on Saturday. In Nyköping 14-year-old Emil captured lightning strikes on camera while temperatures reached 29.5 degrees in Kolmården.

Linda Forså and her son Emil stood on the balcony in Nyköping when the lightning struck. "It was completely fantastic, but at the same time really scary", said Linda. She described a loud bang she had not heard in many years.

SMHI reported 29.5 degrees in Kolmården, breaking the previous annual record of 28.6 degrees from May. Meteorologist Emma Rosengren confirmed the figure and noted that the warmth could persist.

At the same time SMHI's app suffered disruptions due to high load. Trafikverket increased readiness to handle possible delays from the weather.
