Finnish clubs Jokerit and Kärpät are reported to be interested in signing 30-year-old forward Teemu Turunen following his departure from Örebro.
Örebro announced on Saturday that it had ended its contract with Turunen, which was set to run through next season. Turunen is returning to Finland for personal reasons.
According to reports from Urheilucast cited by Leijonat, Jokerit has made a substantial offer for the player. Kärpät is also pursuing him, with management providing general manager Kapanen additional funds for a potential signing.
Turunen, born in Helsinki, began his career with Jokerit and played for the club in the KHL during the 2021/2022 season. He spent three seasons with Kärpät before joining Örebro.
In the most recent SHL season, Turunen recorded seven goals and seven assists in 29 regular-season games, along with two assists in three playoff matches.
