KBO tops 2 million fans in fewest games on record

The Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) surpassed 2 million fans in the fewest games in its history, reaching 2,094,481 attendees through 117 games this season. The milestone followed Saturday's five games, which drew a combined 99,905 spectators. The league is averaging more fans per game than at this point last year.

The KBO announced that attendance for the 2026 season hit 2,094,481 after 117 games, following Saturday's contests. This beat the previous record of 118 games set in 2025 to reach 2 million fans. That year, the league also established a single-season high of over 12.3 million attendees.

This season, the KBO passed 1 million fans after just 55 games on April 10, shattering the prior mark by five games. The average attendance stands at 17,902 per game, up from 16,596 at the same stage last year. Of the 117 games played, 65 have sold out, including four more on Saturday.

Those sellouts featured LG Twins versus Doosan Bears drawing 23,750 at Jamsil Baseball Stadium in Seoul; Kiwoom Heroes hosting Samsung Lions with 16,000 at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul; Lotte Giants at Kia Tigers before 20,500 at Gwangju-Kia Champions Field in Gwangju; and Hanwha Eagles against NC Dinos with 17,000 at Daejeon Hanwha Life Ballpark in Daejeon.

The Hanwha Eagles have sold out all 13 home games so far but have won only three of them.
