Des dirigeants se joignent à la manifestation des riziculteurs du sud du Cachemire contre l'utilisation des terres

Des responsables politiques issus de plusieurs partis se sont joints aux agriculteurs de Padgampora les 8 et 9 juin pour planter des plants de riz, en signe de protestation contre l'interdiction par les autorités fiscales de cultiver des terres domaniales.

Lundi et mardi, le législateur du PDP Waheed Para, la responsable du PDP Iltija Mufti, les dirigeants du National Conference Hasnain Masoodi et Mukhtar Ahmad Bandh, ainsi que le dirigeant du BJP Arshad Hussain Bhat se sont rendus dans les champs du district de Pulwama, au sud du Cachemire. Ils ont labouré et planté des pousses aux côtés des habitants des villages de Padgampora, Dangerpora, Goripora, Wandekhpora et Hajibal. Cette action fait suite aux avertissements du Tehsildar d'Awantipora concernant l'utilisation d'environ 1 200 kanals de terres domaniales que les locaux exploitent, selon eux, depuis plus de soixante ans. L'agriculteur Shabir Ahmad a déclaré que plus de 1 000 foyers dépendent de ces terres. Le Tehsildar Shakeel Ahmad a affirmé que certaines parcelles avaient été allouées à des projets, notamment une cité policière et l'Université islamique des sciences et technologies, et qu'il avait sollicité la présence de la police uniquement pour prévenir tout trouble à l'ordre public.
