Politiker schließen sich Protest gegen Landnutzung in Südkaschmir an

Politische Vertreter verschiedener Parteien schlossen sich am 8. und 9. Juni Landwirten in Padgampora an, um gemeinsam Reissetzlinge zu pflanzen und gegen das Verbot der Bewirtschaftung von Staatsland durch die Finanzbehörden zu protestieren.

Am Montag und Dienstag betraten der PDP-Abgeordnete Waheed Para, die PDP-Politikerin Iltija Mufti, die National-Conference-Politiker Hasnain Masoodi und Mukhtar Ahmad Bandh sowie der BJP-Politiker Arshad Hussain Bhat die Felder im Distrikt Pulwama in Südkaschmir. Gemeinsam mit den Bewohnern der Dörfer Padgampora, Dangerpora, Goripora, Wandekhpora und Hajibal pflügten sie die Felder und pflanzten Reissetzlinge. Die Aktion folgte auf Warnungen des Tehsildars von Awantipora, die Nutzung von rund 1200 Kanal Staatsland einzustellen, welches nach Angaben der Einheimischen seit über sechs Jahrzehnten von ihren Familien bewirtschaftet wird. Der Landwirt Shabir Ahmad erklärte, dass mehr als 1000 Haushalte von diesem Land abhängig seien. Tehsildar Shakeel Ahmad gab an, dass Teile des Landes für Projekte wie eine Wohnsiedlung der Polizei und die Islamic University of Science and Technology vorgesehen seien und er lediglich Polizeipräsenz angefordert habe, um die öffentliche Ordnung zu gewährleisten.
