Örebro Hockey announced on Tuesday that it has parted ways with head coach Niklas Eriksson. Eriksson, who had main responsibility at the club for nearly ten years, was sacked following an evaluation of several aspects of operations.

Sports director Henrik Löwdahl explained the decision: “We have evaluated many parts, and come to the conclusion that this will be best for Örebro Hockey.” He described it as a point where the club needs new energy. Two assistant coaches had previously been let go over the last two seasons, while Eriksson continued until now.

According to reports to Expressen, Martin Filander is confirmed as Eriksson's replacement. Filander is on his way in as the new head coach.

Speaking to Nerikes Allehanda, Eriksson opened up about the split. “I’m damn disappointed. That I am,” he said, while also highlighting his pride in his long tenure at the club.
