Le Premier ministre Abiy Ahmed a appelé à une représentation africaine adéquate au sein du système international. Cette déclaration a été faite lors d'un événement à Addis-Abeba dévoilant une collection spéciale de timbres pour le 80e anniversaire des Nations Unies.

Le Premier ministre Abiy Ahmed a déclaré à l'assemblée que l'anniversaire de la fondation des Nations Unies offre une opportunité aux institutions multilatérales de s'adapter à un monde en mutation. Il a rappelé l'histoire de l'Éthiopie en tant que membre fondateur après la Seconde Guerre mondiale.

Les institutions ne gagnent en légitimité qu'en prenant les mesures appropriées face aux défis, a-t-il affirmé. Les Nations Unies devraient subir des changements structurels pour devenir plus justes et inclusives.

L'Afrique mérite d'avoir une voix forte sur les questions qui déterminent son avenir, a ajouté Abiy. L'Éthiopie continuera de jouer son rôle dans le renforcement de la paix et du développement internationaux, a-t-il affirmé.
