دعا رئيس الوزراء أبي أحمد إلى ضمان تمثيل أفريقي ملائم في النظام الدولي. جاء ذلك خلال فعالية أقيمت في أديس أبابا للكشف عن مجموعة طوابع تذكارية بمناسبة الذكرى الثمانين لتأسيس الأمم المتحدة.

أكد رئيس الوزراء أبي أحمد أمام الحضور أن ذكرى تأسيس الأمم المتحدة تمثل فرصة للمؤسسات متعددة الأطراف للتكيف مع عالم متغير، مشيراً إلى تاريخ إثيوبيا كعضو مؤسس في المنظمة بعد الحرب العالمية الثانية. وقال إن المؤسسات تكتسب شرعيتها فقط عندما تتخذ الخطوات الصحيحة في ظل التحديات القائمة، مشدداً على ضرورة خضوع الأمم المتحدة لتغييرات هيكلية لتصبح أكثر عدلاً وشمولاً. وأضاف أبي أن أفريقيا تستحق صوتاً قوياً في القضايا التي تحدد مستقبلها، مؤكداً أن إثيوبيا ستواصل القيام بدورها في بناء السلام والتنمية على المستوى الدولي.
