اختتم منتدى الأمم المتحدة الدائم المعني بقضايا الشعوب الأصلية اجتماعه السنوي الأسبوع الماضي بتوصيات عاجلة بشأن العمل المناخي وحقوق الأراضي، وذلك في الوقت الذي يعاني فيه من نقص حاد في التمويل وشكوك حول مدى تأثيره. وسلط الاجتماع الذي استمر أسبوعين في نيويورك الضوء على التحديات المستمرة التي تواجه هذه الهيئة التي تأسست قبل 25 عاماً، والتي تقدم المشورة للأمم المتحدة والدول الأعضاء بشأن قضايا الشعوب الأصلية. كما أكد تقييم داخلي جديد وجود فجوة بين توصيات المنتدى والتنفيذ الفعلي لها من قبل الحكومات.
