الأمم المتحدة تتبنى قراراً يدعم رأي محكمة العدل الدولية بشأن المناخ

صوتت أغلبية ساحقة من أعضاء الأمم المتحدة يوم الأربعاء لصالح تأييد الرأي الاستشاري التاريخي الصادر عن محكمة العدل الدولية بشأن المسؤوليات المتعلقة بتغير المناخ. ويشير القرار إلى وجود دعم سياسي واسع لمحاسبة الدول التي تفشل في معالجة ظاهرة الاحتباس الحراري، حيث أيدت أكثر من 140 دولة هذا الإجراء بينما صوتت ثماني دول ضده.

جاء التصويت بعد حملة بدأت قبل ست سنوات عندما حث طلاب قانون في جامعة جنوب المحيط الهادئ حكومة فانواتو على طلب توجيهات المحكمة. وفي عام 2025، قضت محكمة العدل الدولية بالإجماع بأن الدول لديها واجب قانوني لحماية الكوكب، وأن الدول المتضررة قد تسعى للحصول على تعويضات عن أضرار المناخ. ووصف الرأي غير الملزم التقاعس عن العمل بأنه فعل غير مشروع.
