Resident Evil 4 remake tops sales among current generation remakes

The 2023 Resident Evil 4 remake has outsold all other remakes released since the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S launched in 2020, according to fresh market data.

Market analysis firm Alinea estimates that the game has sold 16.8 million copies across PlayStation, Steam, and Xbox. PlayStation accounts for 7.4 million units, Steam for 6.8 million, and Xbox for 1.6 million.

The title has generated $560 million in gross revenue. PlayStation contributed 53.1 percent of that total, Steam 34.1 percent, and Xbox 12.8 percent. China, Brazil, and Russia rank among the top five territories for sales.

Alinea compared the results to other recent remakes. Ark: Survival Ascended reached an estimated 7 million copies, The Last of Us Part 1 sold 6.3 million, Oblivion Remastered hit 4.5 million, and the Dead Space remake reached 4.3 million.

Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has sold more than 3.5 million copies in its first two weeks.
