Des habitants manifestent contre des irrégularités dans l'attribution de logements à Chennai

Les habitants de Chitra Nagar, à Kotturpuram, ont organisé un blocage de route et un sit-in samedi pour protester contre des irrégularités présumées dans l'attribution d'appartements dans le cadre d'un programme de logement du Tamil Nadu.

Plus de 1 500 logements ont été construits dans le cadre de ce programme par le Tamil Nadu Urban Habitat Development Board. Les appartements ont été attribués la semaine dernière, mais environ 195 familles vivant dans le quartier depuis plus de 50 ans se seraient vu refuser un logement.

Les manifestants ont affirmé que les appartements avaient été attribués à des personnes venant de Saidapet avec le soutien de responsables du DMK. Ils ont déclaré que leurs pétitions répétées auprès du conseil étaient restées sans réponse.

Le sit-in sur Gandhi Mandapam Road a duré plus d'une heure et a perturbé la circulation entre Adyar et Nandanam. La police a interpellé les manifestants après l'échec des discussions visant à les disperser.
