Örebro Hockey started strongly against Rögle BK at Behrn Arena on January 3, 2026, leading 1–0 after the first period thanks to the Karlavagnen line. In the second period, Rögle tied it at 1–1, but chaos ensued when the goal siren sounded during open play. The referees reviewed and awarded the goal to Rögle, despite Örebro coach Niklas Eriksson disagreeing.
Goal scorer Fredrik Olofsson was puzzled: “It’s very interesting. On that goal, I hear someone shouting: ‘No, that’s clearly nothing.’ And then... There’s some back-and-forth in communication. And if you’re not sure, I don’t think you should just state what you think outright.”

Post-game, Örebro's Noah Steen was frustrated: “Right now, I don’t have many words. It’s so damn sour.” The loss is Örebro's fourth straight, raising concerns for the future. During the intermission, Smash Into Pieces performed, but home supporters protested with a banner: “We are not Melodifestivalen.”
