Scottie Scheffler commits to 3M Open in Minnesota

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is set to make his debut at the 3M Open in Blaine, Minnesota, marking the biggest name in the tournament's history.

The tournament, which began in 2019, officially announced Scheffler's commitment on May 4. Executive Director Hollis Cavner said he learned of the decision about a month earlier and kept it quiet.

Scheffler arrived via a plane provided by organizers and took Monday off to visit downtown Minneapolis with his family. He teed off on the 14th hole at TPC Twin Cities on Tuesday and had a 6:40 a.m. pro-am on Wednesday with Minnesota Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell.

Ticket sales have already risen 25 to 30 percent over last year. Cavner said the event has "eclipsed all of our numbers already" and expects a strong week.

Scheffler cited good scheduling after the Open Championship and positive reports about the event. The tournament holds a contract through 2030, though its place in the PGA Tour's structure after 2028 remains unclear.
