Pittsburgh Steelers beat writer Ray Fittipaldo said the team could turn to the trade market for a veteran wide receiver this summer if rookie Roman Wilson fails to secure a depth role.
Fittipaldo spoke on 93.7 The Fan’s Pomp and Joe Show about the wide receiver position ahead of the 2026 season. He noted that Wilson is unlikely to be cut but questioned whether the second-year player can become a viable No. 4 option.
“You are pretty thin after your top three,” Fittipaldo said. “I think Bernard is gonna be a solid No. 3 as a rookie when his time comes. But you need depth.”
He added that Wilson faces a critical stretch of practice and preseason play. If Wilson does not perform, general manager Omar Khan could look to acquire veteran help, according to Fittipaldo.
The Steelers are working under new offensive coordinator Mike McCarthy and quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who have placed added emphasis on the position.
