Suspected murder investigation in Borlänge dropped

A preliminary investigation into a suspected murder in Borlänge has been dropped. The incident occurred in December 2025 when a man in his forties was found dead in Domnarvet. The prosecutor cites self-defense as the reason.

The investigation into the suspected murder was closed today by Chief Prosecutor Fredrik Skoglund. It concerns the death of a man in his forties in the Domnarvet area of Borlänge in early December 2025.

Police responded to reports of a fight and found the man with fatal injuries. A man in his sixties and a woman in her fifties were arrested but released days later as the probe continued.

Skoglund determined it was a self-defense situation. The suspected perpetrator had been attacked themselves according to the findings.

"Upon an overall assessment of what has come to light during the investigation, the act is free from responsibility since the person suspected of the act had themselves been attacked," the prosecutor said in a statement.
