The house floor was covered in a several-centimeter-thick layer of feces, and the dogs lacked heating. They were dirty and injured to varying degrees, with females forced to give birth in a stressful environment. The dogs had to compete for food, and remains of a dead dog were found on site.
Five of the dogs lived with the woman, while the others were alone in the house. Of the seized dogs, two had to be euthanized due to their condition. The county administrative board's animal welfare unit documented the poor conditions, leading to the charge of gross animal cruelty.
