Zebby Matthews delivered a standout performance in his first start of the season for the Minnesota Twins, tossing seven scoreless innings in a 9-1 victory over the Miami Marlins on Thursday at Target Field.
Matthews allowed just four hits and one walk while striking out five batters. He threw 83 pitches, with more than 67 percent landing for strikes, and averaged 94.8 mph on his fastball. Manager Derek Shelton praised the outing, noting Matthews executed his plan effectively with a good changeup and fastball location.
