The Colombian Petroleum and Gas Association (ACP) warned about a work stoppage affecting production fields in Puerto Gaitán since June 5.
The association noted that the measure, driven by members of the metal-mechanical sector, seeks to impose unified economic conditions or extralegal benefits. The situation affects employment, the operations chain, contractors and local communities. ACP stated that concerns should be resolved through institutional mechanisms and within the legal framework. The guild stressed the need to respect current legislation and business autonomy. It is important to remember that labor, contractual and commercial conditions must be built respecting current legislation, business autonomy and the operational particularities of each company, within a framework of dialogue and respect for institutions, the association said in a statement. The organization reiterated its willingness for dialogue and asked authorities to guarantee freedom of enterprise and the normal development of activities that contribute to the country's energy security.
