Adam Åhman has established himself as Växjö Lakers' top goaltender during the playoffs after years as a backup. The 26-year-old credits consistent playing time for his breakthrough.
Åhman entered the season as one of the team's goaltenders but finished as the starter when the playoffs began. He described the key change as finally getting to play the matches he had wanted each year.
The player has long competed with Emil Larmi, one of the SHL's top goaltenders. Åhman said he views such competition as positive and has never defined himself strictly as the number one or number two.
Åhman stated he wants to remain with Växjö Lakers rather than pursue opportunities elsewhere. He added that success comes from focusing on the next training session and match while maintaining the right mindset.
