Alex Fitzpatrick uses augmented reality goggles at U.S. Open

English golfer Alex Fitzpatrick was seen wearing augmented reality goggles during practice at the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills. The device, known as PuttView X, projects visuals onto the green to aid putting.

Fitzpatrick appeared on the practice green ahead of his round with the headset over his eyes. Observers noted the unusual sight as he prepared for the event's demanding conditions.

The PuttView X system relies on Microsoft HoloLens technology. It displays information such as ball paths, alignment lines, and slope contours directly on the surface.

Players can adjust settings for speed and break using features including Ideal Line and Contour Lines. A companion app also supports remote coaching and data review.

The use of the tool highlights growing interest in data-driven training methods in professional golf.
