NFL.com analyst Matt Okada has identified right guard as the Pittsburgh Steelers' primary area of concern heading into training camp. The team addressed multiple positions during the offseason but left one key spot unsettled on the offensive line.
The Steelers focused heavily on roster improvements this offseason. They added wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. and drafted Germie Bernard, signed cornerback Jamel Dean and drafted Daylen Everette, and double-dipped at safety with Jaquan Brisker and Darnell Savage Jr.
Okada pointed to right guard as the remaining weakness. With Mason McCormick shifting to left guard to replace Isaac Seumalo, who signed with Arizona, the competition at right guard involves free-agent addition Brock Hoffman, 2023 seventh-rounder Spencer Anderson, and rookie third-rounder Gennings Dunker.
The position carries added importance because it helps protect 42-year-old quarterback Aaron Rodgers. The Steelers have invested multiple draft picks in the offensive line in recent years, including Broderick Jones, Troy Fautanu, and others, but injuries and free agency have forced another reorganization under new offensive line coach James Campen.
