Houston Astros pitcher Spencer Arrighetti threw five scoreless innings to lead his team to a 4-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Friday afternoon at Wrigley Field. The win marked Houston's first at the venue since June 22, 2013. Chicago stranded 11 runners and went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
Arrighetti allowed two hits and four walks while striking out five, improving to 6-1 with a 1.32 ERA. He escaped two bases-loaded jams, including striking out Ian Happ with the bases full in the third inning. Astros manager Joe Espada praised the performance, saying, “Spencer, he grinded through those five innings.”
