Batangas school suspends classes after online shooting threat

Classes at Batangas City Integrated High School were suspended after an online threat to shoot students was posted on the school's Facebook page. Police are investigating the incident along with a separate threat in Escalante City.

The threatening messages appeared at around 9:54 p.m. on Sunday. An unidentified person using a dummy account claimed to be a bullied student and targeted some students in Grades 7, 8, 9 and 10.

School officials and the Department of Education Region 4-A ordered the suspension of classes and activities as a precaution. The Philippine National Police said it is checking whether a bullied student was behind the post.

Regular classes are set to resume today. Principal Aida Gutierrez said the school coordinated with authorities and confirmed that the campus is safe. Investigators have not yet identified the account owner.
