Benue MACBAN chairman killed in ambush after peace meeting

Ardo Risku Muhammad, chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria in Benue State, was killed along with his associate in an ambush on Friday afternoon.

The attack occurred around 2pm in the Okudu community of Otukpo Local Government Area. Muhammad and Yakubu Isah were returning from a peace and security meeting in the neighbouring Ohimini LGA when armed youths ambushed their vehicle and opened fire.

Idris Muhammad, the eldest son of the deceased, confirmed that the victims were attacked shortly after leaving the meeting convened by the Divisional Police Officer in Idekpa. The family recovered the bodies and took them to Oyangede for burial.

Local government chairmen Maxwell Ogiri of Otukpo and Gabriel Adole of Ohimini confirmed the incident and described the area as tense. The Benue State Police Command, through spokesperson DSP Udeme Edet, said an investigation had begun to identify those responsible.
