A special court in Bhopal rejected the bail plea of retired judge Giribala Singh on July 24, 2026. First Additional Sessions Judge Ram Pratap Mishra observed that the case diary contained sufficient material indicating her involvement and that the prosecution’s apprehension of evidence being affected could not be ruled out.

Twisha Sharma was found hanging at her marital home on May 12. Giribala Singh and her son Samarth Singh were arrested on charges of dowry harassment, mental torture and domestic violence. The Central Bureau of Investigation is probing the case.

The defense sought bail on humanitarian grounds, citing her age and health. The CBI opposed it, noting that she had refused to give a voice sample and allegedly contacted witnesses. The court rejected the application after hearing both sides.
