The Toronto Blue Jays placed reliever Tommy Nance on the 15-day injured list with right forearm discomfort on Sunday morning. Left-handed pitcher Adam Macko was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo to take his roster spot.
Macko, the organization's No. 21 prospect, will become the first Major League Baseball player born in Slovakia upon his debut. The 25-year-old has Canadian connections through high school baseball in Alberta and recent appearances with Team Canada at the World Baseball Classic. He has worked primarily as a multi-inning reliever this season in Buffalo, where he recorded a 4.50 ERA across 18 innings.
