Cédric Jubillar has admitted in a letter to his lawyers that he is responsible for the death of his wife Delphine, who disappeared in December 2020 in the Tarn.

Cédric Jubillar, 38, sent these confessions last week to his lawyers Me Pierre and Guy Debuisson. He admitted being responsible for the disappearance of Delphine Jubillar on the night of 15 to 16 December 2020 in Cagnac-les-Mines, without however admitting to murder.

The lawyers held a press conference on Monday. They described a marital dispute that went wrong and explained that their client had moved the body to protect his children. They called the case a crime of passion and denounced a botched investigation.

Sentenced to 30 years of criminal imprisonment in autumn 2025 by the Albi assize court, Cédric Jubillar was due to be tried on appeal in Toulouse from 21 September. His lawyers believe that this hearing would now be grotesque and are requesting additional information to find the body.

Initial reactions on X express shock at the delayed confession after years of denial, skepticism regarding motives and authenticity (e.g., defense strategy or mental breakdown), demands to locate the body, and views framing it as emblematic of gender-based violence; media accounts dominate with factual updates while users add personal commentary.

Invited on RTL Wednesday, Justice Minister Gerald Darmanin announced he will skip summer vacation to reform justice methods, following failures exposed by Lyhanna's death.

A body appearing to be that of a child wearing clothes similar to Lyhanna's was found Thursday in an agricultural site near Puycasquier. The 11-year-old girl had disappeared on May 29. An autopsy is scheduled in the coming hours to confirm identification.
