Cali's Biblioteca Departamental Jorge Garcés Borrero will become a hub of cultural and scientific activities this Saturday, December 13, 2025. The Cultural All-Nighter, running from 2:00 p.m. to midnight, invites families, children, and adults to engage in diverse experiences aimed at fostering learning and enjoyment.
Fernando Tamayo, the library's director, described the event as a unique opportunity: “This all-nighter isn't about shopping… it's about culture, science, and family. A night to learn, enjoy, be surprised, and reconnect with knowledge. The library shows that culture stays up late too.” He stressed that it is “a different night, safe and made for community sharing,” where “the culture of the Valle is also lived under the stars.”
Key activities include circus workshops from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., a cinema screening at 3:00 p.m., and puppet shows, story time, and instrument workshops to spark children's imagination. Book enthusiasts can join a reading club and the Traveling Book program. On the scientific side, interactive MIVO modules will run from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., covering topics like the universe and life. Stargazing from the library's observatory will be available from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The lineup continues with a live music concert at 7:00 p.m. and an Andean closing performance at 10:00 p.m., celebrating regional traditions and identity until midnight. Tamayo extended an invitation to all: “Come with your children, parents, friends: there are activities for every age. The library is a safe, free space designed to unite Valle families. Here, children learn by playing and adults rediscover culture.”
This event highlights the library's role as an inclusive venue that opens its doors beyond regular hours, promoting equitable access to culture in the Valle del Cauca region.
