Dan Evans speaks out on Queen's wildcard snub ahead of Wimbledon decision

British tennis player Dan Evans has expressed disappointment after being overlooked for a wildcard at the Queen's Club tournament. The 36-year-old, who announced his retirement, awaits a decision on a potential entry to Wimbledon.

Evans shared his thoughts following the decision to award wildcards to younger British players ranked above him. He noted that he had hoped his years of service to British tennis would earn him a main draw spot at the ATP 500 event.

The veteran entered qualifying on his own but lost in the first round to Marcos Giron. Evans reached the round of 16 at Queen's last year and believed that performance strengthened his case for direct entry.

He has applied for a wildcard at Wimbledon through the All England Club. Evans said he remains capable of qualifying on ranking alone if needed. The decision was expected on June 16.

Tatjana Maria, the defending champion at the WTA event, voiced similar frustration after also being denied a wildcard in favor of British players.
