Digital Minister had texts written by AI

Digital Minister Karsten Wildberger admitted to having several texts and a speech created with artificial intelligence without disclosure.

On April 4, 2026, the Handelsblatt published a guest contribution by Wildberger titled “Deutschlands Digitalproblem – Viele Projekte, wenig Produkte”. After an inquiry by Die Zeit, the ministry confirmed that the text had been created with AI support.

The Handelsblatt has since depublished the contribution and is now reviewing the text itself. A ministry spokesman admitted that Wildberger had several texts and speeches generated by AI without disclosure.

Wildberger is a Christian Democrat and Digital Minister.
