Ethiopia's intellectual property authority director Weldw Yemsel addressed the 68th World Intellectual Property Organization General Assembly in Geneva.
The director stated that Ethiopia has carried out legal and economic reforms to encourage innovation and sustainable development.
He explained that intellectual property holds strategic value for economic transition, investment, industrial growth, innovation, indigenous knowledge and cultural heritage protection.
Ethiopia has shown commitment by updating its intellectual property framework and joining key international agreements.
The director also met with intellectual property officials from BRICS member countries and agreed on agendas for their upcoming meeting in India.
