Nate Jacobs meets a grisly end in the latest episode of Euphoria. Creator Sam Levinson explained the decision behind the character's death during an interview.
In season 3, episode 7 titled Rain or Shine, Nate Jacobs, played by Jacob Elordi, is kidnapped by Naz and buried alive in a coffin. A venomous snake enters through an air pipe and bites him on the neck, leading to his death on the property he was developing. The episode aired ahead of the show's finale on HBO. Levinson said he aimed to deliver audience-desired justice or karma in a way that becomes horrific and anxiety-inducing. He noted the shift to real-world consequences for characters out of high school, describing it as a Wild West frontier aspect where actions carry weight without a safety net. The snake element came to Levinson while driving through Los Angeles near Warner Brothers, imagining a rattlesnake sensing movement and entering the pipe.
