Formula 1 broadcaster Tom Clarkson has said Ferrari should have recruited Gianpiero Lambiase to work with Lewis Hamilton. The comments came during a discussion on the F1 Nation podcast after Hamilton's run at the Belgian Grand Prix.
Clarkson described Lambiase as the ideal buffer between Hamilton and the team. He noted that Lambiase speaks fluent Italian and English and argued McLaren acted quickly to secure him ahead of a move from Red Bull.
Hamilton finished fourth at Spa-Francorchamps but faced setbacks. An opening-lap incident with George Russell brought a five-second penalty, while strategy questions and a difficult pit stop added to the challenges.
Former driver Alex Brundle questioned whether Lambiase's direct style would suit Hamilton. He pointed to differences in team cultures at Red Bull and Ferrari. Clarkson maintained that Lambiase could adapt to any driver including Hamilton or Lando Norris.
