New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole made his second minor-league rehab appearance Thursday night with High-A Hudson Valley, allowing two runs over 4 1/3 innings against the Brooklyn Cyclones. The 35-year-old right-hander, sidelined since March 2025 Tommy John surgery, threw 52 pitches (42 strikes) with four strikeouts and no walks.
Building on his first rehab outing last Friday at Double-A Somerset, Cole navigated traffic effectively: inducing an inning-ending double play with runners on first and second in the second inning and stranding a runner on third in the third. In the fourth, he worked around a home run by Corey Collins—accounting for one of the two runs—while striking out three batters. Cole allowed five hits total and finished with four strikeouts.
Across his two rehab starts, he has pitched 8 2/3 innings, allowing five runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out seven. He has thrown 96 pitches, 78 for strikes (81.3%). The Yankees have not specified a minimum number of rehab games, but Cole remains on pace for a 14-month recovery timeline, with a late-May return to the majors the earliest projection. His command has stood out throughout the process.
