Google rolls out Video Remix feature in Photos app

Google has introduced Video Remix, a new AI-powered tool in Google Photos that lets subscribers transform their videos using Gemini Omni templates.

The feature became available Wednesday to adults 18 and older who subscribe to Google AI Plus, Pro or Ultra plans. It is initially rolling out in the United States and select countries including India, Japan, Mexico and South Korea.

Users access Video Remix through the Create tab in Google Photos. The tool applies one-tap templates to add effects such as watercolor filters, adjusted lighting or new backgrounds to existing video clips.

Gemini Omni, the underlying model, was unveiled at Google's developer conference in May. Google says the edits process in a few seconds and remain behind usage limits for cloud AI processing.

Competitors including Meta have also released new AI image and video editing tools this week.
